Arena Racing Company (ARC) has a very exciting role for a committed and driven HR Administrator to join our HR team, supporting the Regional HR Managers. ARC is the largest racecourse group in the UK, operating 16 racecourses, across a mix of flat, jump and all-weather tracks, hosting about 35% of the UK’s annual horseracing fixtures.

You will report to the local HR Manager with a dotted line to the other Regional HR Managers working under service levels and processes agreed by all parties.

Your main task is to provide HR administrative support (in specified areas) on a range of day to day operational HR issues. This will include supporting with recruitment, company benefits, management of the company car fleet and ad hoc generalist admin.

About you

The successful candidate will ideally have at least two years’ experience in administration, recruitment or HR in a fast paced environment. You will have the ability to work within agreed SLAs, frequently juggling multiple priorities. We will expect you to be able to demonstrate the following key qualities:

Newcastle Racecourse has a great new job opportunity for a driven Accounts Assistant to join the Finance team. Located within High Gosforth Park, Newcastle Racecourse is home to the historic Northumberland Plate, and is one of Britain’s busiest racecourses, hosting over 60 all-weather and jumps fixtures a year. It is also an ideal venue for all occasions, the racecourse can host events of all kinds, including conferences, exhibitions, weddings, private parties and more. This role is to provide accounting support to the financial controller across Newcastle and Sedgefield Racecourses, including The Border Minstrel and Parklands Golf course. This is a very exciting role for a certain type of individual, who is able think for themselves and can work under pressure. It is a unique role which will incorporate financial accounting and operational delivery of large events.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Raise all authorised purchase orders on exchequer & distribute copies as required.
  • Input and authorise purchase ledger invoices onto exchequer.
  • Input key overhead expenditure on to tracker, after the completion of each set of management accounts
  • Reconcile events room hire & catering income. Allocate income to correct non raceday income lines.
  • Proactively review pre events/raceday bookings yet to be invoiced/paid.
  • Weekly debt management, including statements, letters and phones chase. Liaise with commercial teams regarding their debtors.
  • To post all monies received and paid out ensuring correct allocation.
  • To reconcile all bank accounts daily.
  • Reconcile & post petty cash regularly.
  • To maintain the race day file for each day, and audit all sections for completeness.
  • Catering/turnstile cashiering when required.
  • Ensure the ticketing system is running efficiently.
  • Run necessary Exchequer reports to produce accurate Management Accounts to be submitted to the Financial Controller for checking.
  • Support in-house catering with cashiering as and when required
  • Any other adhoc duties to assist the efficient running of the department.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

The Operations and Maintenance Assistant will be required to prepare the site as required to the highest possible level of presentation and safety, undertaking responsive and planned maintenance tasks to the facilities at Brighton Racecourse. Reporting to the Financial Controller this is a very exciting role for an individual who can demonstrate a high level of accuracy, insight and commercial value. It is a unique role which will incorporate financial accounting and support the operational delivery of Events. Alongside this you will also support Windsor, Brighton and Fontwell with their catering finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Raceday, Non-racing and Hotel catering revenue, direct and indirect expenditure including variable labour is controlled to ensure Margin/Profit is maximised and is accurate reported
  • Produce forecast reports for catering contribution for Raceday, Non Raceday events
  • Ensure the EPOS system is reporting accurately and cash controls agree to the reports
  • Ensure margins are accurately reported, understood and explained if a variance to the budget
  • Monitor catering staff levels and efficiency to maximise service level efficiency and cost
  • Review revenue and spend per head data from the Raceday Flash and provide a commentary on the performance
  • Ensure all catering Revenue is complete and reconciled in; EventMaster / Exchequer Accounting Systems, ensure all Hospitality and Restaurant packages are reconciled
  • Prepare month end report on margins, stock loss, variable labour and cost control
  • Ensure a monthly stock take is accurately measured and discussed with FC
  • Support to the Racecourse Executive Director with the preparation of the budget
  • Undertake analysis and package control menu engineering to ensure margins are accurate.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Qualified/Part Qualified/Qualified by experience
  • Studying/Completed CIMA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in finance and operations of a retail/hospitality industry to a management position or higher

As the Financial Controller you will effectively manage the Finance Operation of Doncaster Racecourse. Working closely with senior members of the racecourse and Hotel staff. Part of this role will include the management and delegation of duties to members of staff within the finance department to ensure the highest standard and accuracy of work is produced as well as overseeing significant raceday cash and finance operations.

Within the scope of work you will be responsible for the accuracy and consistency of management accounts and reporting. You will nurture a strong relationship with the Racecourse Executive Director and provide detailed financial information and advice as requested. This will also include regular reviews at the course to ensure full compliance with internal and external reporting and accounting requirements.

You will be expected to work closely with the Executive Director and Group Financial Controller in the strategic planning of the businesses, providing information where necessary to assist in achieving the goals and targets as set by the company.

The nature of the business demands flexibility over working hours to suit each event and the preparation involved. The role demands a high level of accuracy as well as good staff management and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

Qualifications:

  • Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.

The Plumber will work as a member of the Maintenance Team with responsibility for any specific plumbing tasks and at all other times conducting generalist maintenance work at the racecourse or hotel. You will ensure any direct maintenance requests are passed through the Maintenance Manager to enable them to prioritise workload effectively. Alongside this you will be expected to ensure that all new and existing facilities are maintained to the highest possible standards of presentation. The candidate should also possess significant experience in plumbing and maintenance work.

You may on occasions be required to assist in the cleaning of Guest rooms or other areas of the Resort outside the normal scope of your duties.

The Cyprium Grill Restaurant is a stylish open plan 100 cover restaurant which includes an outside summer dining area popular for corporate BBQs. Situated beside the busy racecourse with 80 racedays in 2017, the views across the racecourse and towards our 18-hole PGA Championship Golf Course are stunning.

You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager and assist in leading the team by example embodying the ‘spirit to serve’ and being pro-active with excellent communication, organisation and problem solving skills. This includes assisting with the management of the restaurant including reservations, floor plans, schedules, daily checks and ensuring the staffing levels are appropriate.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Open and close shift in accordance with manager’s checklist
  • Train, maintain and enforce all Marriott service standards using records, menus and appropriate reference materials
  • Gather and implement all proper tools for running shift (e.g. schedules. Floor plans, reservations, checks).
  • Ensure room set up is completed appropriately and to customer requirements.
  • Find solutions for problems such as call outs, last minute bookings or any other problems that may arise.
  • During shift, ensure that guests are satisfied by assisting with serving, seating, and communication with kitchen and by striving to speak to all guests
  • Monitor hours and staffing on a daily basis with accurate scheduling in line with forecast and budget guidelines
