Brighton Racecourse are currently recruiting for a very exciting job, seeking a driven Operations and Maintenance Assistant to join the Operation team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking for a new challenge in an exciting and unique venue.

The Operations and Maintenance Assistant will be required to prepare the site as required to the highest possible level of presentation and safety, undertaking responsive and planned maintenance tasks to the facilities at Brighton Racecourse. They will supervise the Cleaning Team and will set up rooms as required, undertaking site and buildings inspections and security duties. They will work effectively and efficiently as part of the Operations Team, and independently on tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Qualifications within the areas of electrical, plumbing, carpentry or decorating is an advantage
  • Valid food safety certificate is an advantage
  • A valid Driving License is essential

Reporting to the Executive Director the main responsibilities of the Operations Manager will be to provide Operational Support for all Raceday and Non Raceday events that take place at the Racecourse and to take responsibility for the Management of services and processes that support the core business, including the management of the contract cleaning relationship. Reporting to the Financial Controller this is a very exciting role for an individual who can demonstrate a high level of accuracy, insight and commercial value. It is a unique role which will incorporate financial accounting and support the operational delivery of Events. Alongside this you will also support Windsor, Brighton and Fontwell with their catering finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all Raceday, Non-racing and Hotel catering revenue, direct and indirect expenditure including variable labour is controlled to ensure Margin/Profit is maximised and is accurate reported
  • Produce forecast reports for catering contribution for Raceday, Non Raceday events
  • Ensure the EPOS system is reporting accurately and cash controls agree to the reports
  • Ensure margins are accurately reported, understood and explained if a variance to the budget
  • Monitor catering staff levels and efficiency to maximise service level efficiency and cost
  • Review revenue and spend per head data from the Raceday Flash and provide a commentary on the performance
  • Ensure all catering Revenue is complete and reconciled in; EventMaster / Exchequer Accounting Systems, ensure all Hospitality and Restaurant packages are reconciled
  • Prepare month end report on margins, stock loss, variable labour and cost control
  • Ensure a monthly stock take is accurately measured and discussed with FC
  • Support to the Racecourse Executive Director with the preparation of the budget
  • Undertake analysis and package control menu engineering to ensure margins are accurate.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Qualified/Part Qualified/Qualified by experience
  • Studying/Completed CIMA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in finance and operations of a retail/hospitality industry to a management position or higher
  • Must hold a full driving license, with the ability to travel across multiple sites.
  • Minimum of 2 years post-graduation experience

The C&B Porter is responsible for the efficient and timely set up and break-down of retail and hospitality areas as required in order to meet business needs and fulfil customer requirements. Key Responsibilities:

  • To work with the C&B Supervisors to prepare the conference rooms and site for customers who are having functions with us
  • To use the function sheets to prepare the rooms for racing and non-racing customers
  • To clear down the rooms after functions ready for the next customers
  • To help customers with queries or last minute requirements
  • To ensure all facilities are maintained on the highest standards
  • To be familiar with all the hospitality areas on site
  • To understand requirements and prioritise workload appropriately
  • To comply with all the H&S procedures

The Housekeeping Associate will work with the housekeeping team to clean different parts of the hotel and respond to guest requests. You will clean approximately 15 rooms per day spending an average of 30 minutes per room. You will also be responsible for cleaning the corridor area outside of Guest rooms.

As part of an Agile Scrum team, this role is responsible for delivering the technical development required to continually evolve ARC’s digital proposition and user experience. The primary focus of the role is to support an ambitious rollout of new format racecourse websites using a Bootstrap/PHP framework, and to subsequently develop new functionality and other new websites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the technical delivery of new racecourse websites and other ARC digital properties as part of an ambitious digital transformation program.
  • Contribute to the scope and definition of technical solutions required to deliver the desired digital user experience in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop technical solutions across all layers of the web development stack from front end presentation to back end database integration.
  • Ensure solutions are informed by insight and analytics, conform to agreed development standards and are fully tested across desktop, tablet and mobile.
  • Contribute to sprint planning, story writing and technical delivery of stories as a key member of an Agile Scrum team.
  • Evolve the Digital Helpdesk into a more comprehensive Digital Support Centre, enabling racecourses to raise change requests and seek support and advice on maintaining and developing their website
  • Liaise with 3rd parties where appropriate (i.e. SEO/Marketing agencies) regarding new website developments and support requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Experience of developing responsive websites from front end presentation to back end integration
  • Experience of developing using Bootstrap/PHP MVC (Model-View-Controller) frameworks
  • Excellent CSS/SASS and HTML skills
  • Strong Javascript skills with knowledge of modern frameworks an advantage (Backbone, Angular, JQuery)

ARC is the largest racecourse group in the UK, operating 16 racecourses, across a mix of flat, jump and all-weather tracks, hosting about 35% of the UK’s annual horseracing fixtures.

This role is to support the Head Office team and Directors to ensure the smooth running of Head office. The incumbent is required to deliver an excellent service to Head office team members as well as providing a welcoming and professional atmosphere to all of our visitors.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • Answering the telephone, directing calls to relevant staff members. Taking messages where the staff member is unavailable and ensuring these messages reach them.
  • Meeting and greeting guests, making them feel welcome.
  • Scheduling meeting rooms.
  • Setting up rooms for meetings and offering drinks to visitors before and during the meetings.
  • Attend meetings if requested to take minutes/notes/actions in meetings as required
  • Collect, open and distribute the mail. A well as sending out the mail at the end of each day.
  • Assist the EA with organisation of Company events Tasks will include assisting with creation of the guest list, sending out invites and managing the RSVP’s, sending out badges, venue, menu, hotels & travel for staff and entertaining on the day.
  • Maintain the smooth running of the office. Proactively sorting out any issues, ordering stationary, water, coffee etc.
  • Dealing with providers and suppliers. Fielding sales calls.
  • Diary management for any Directors needing assistance.
  • General administrative work

Qualifications and experience required for the role:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to think on your feet and be proactive in problem solving
  • Proficient in Office Suite – word, excel, powerpoint, outlook
  • Self-motivated
  • Educated to at least GCSE standard, including Maths and English.
  • Ideally educated to A level or equivalent experience
  • Any courses in secretarial or administrative subjects will be a distinct advantage.
  • Previous admin or reception work is a distinct advantage

We are a unique resort based over 450 acres and comprise of one of the UK’s busiest racecourses. This role is to effectively manage the Finance Operation of Lingfield Park Resort and Fontwell Park Racecourse. You will be expected to work closely with senior members of the racecourse and Hotel staff including Executive Director’s (ED’s) and local management, basing yourself at Lingfield Park Resort, but travelling to Fontwell Racecourse approximately 1-2 days per month as the business requires.

Within the scope of work you will be responsible for the accuracy and consistency of management accounts and reporting. You will manage and delegate duties to members of staff within the finance department to ensure the highest standard and accuracy of work is produced. Nurturing strong relationships with each of the racecourse ED’s and provide detailed financial information and advice to each course as requested. This will also include regular reviews at each of the courses to ensure full compliance with internal and external reporting and accounting requirements. Alongside this you will work closely with the Executive Directors and Group Financial Controller in the strategic planning of the businesses, providing information wherever necessary to assist in achieving the goals and targets as set by the company.

The nature of the business demands flexibility over working hours to suit each event and the preparation involved. The role demands a high level of accuracy as well as good people management and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Qualified member of an accountancy body or holder of an equivalent qualification.

We are looking for a candidate with great customer service and F&B experience to join our Hotel Restaurant Team. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone looking to expand their restaurant experience into a key supervisory position within a busy 4* hotel and resort.

Lingfield Park Marriott franchise Hotel has 116 stylish bedrooms which are enjoyed by regular corporate clients, guests attending conferences and events at our resort, including racing and Golf, and leisure customers celebrating a special occasion or exploring the local area and London.

You will be involved in breakfast, lunch and dinner service and will lead service in the absence of a manager to ensure that the front of house team deliver excellent and attentive customer service which meets Marriott brand standards..

The Cyprium Grill Restaurant is a stylish open plan 100 cover restaurant which includes an outside summer dining area popular for corporate BBQs. Situated beside the busy racecourse with 80 racedays in 2017, the views across the racecourse and towards our 18-hole PGA Championship Golf Course are stunning.

You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager and assist in leading the team by example embodying the ‘spirit to serve’ and being pro-active with excellent communication, organisation and problem solving skills. This includes assisting with the management of the restaurant including reservations, floor plans, schedules, daily checks and ensuring the staffing levels are appropriate.

Key responsibilities for the role will include:

  • To manage the restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, including leading a team of assistants and casual workers
  • To ensure that customer service standards meet Marriott standards, including room service
  • To supervise a variety of shifts – breakfast, afternoon, dinner
  • To lead by example giving great customer service to hotel guests, conference visitors, golf groups, spa guests and racing customers

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • Educated to at least GCSE or equivalent
  • Proven track record in hospitality
  • Minimum of 2 years’ service or related hospitality management experience
  • Basic technical knowledge of restaurant operations

Brighton Racecourse has an exciting new job opportunity for a driven Groundsperson to join the company and work within the existing Grounds team.

This role is a fantastic opportunity for a talented Groundsperson to take on their next challenge. You will be accountable for carrying out a maintenance programme for the course. This will include maintenance of external areas, estate buildings and equipment. You will be responsible for the preparation and presentation of the turf course, stables, estates grounds, gardens and other facilities.

The successful candidate will be very proactive, be able to use their initiative and be highly motivated with a positive attitude towards work. Previous experience working within a similar environment is desirable.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Sports Turf Maintenance or equivalent qualification would be desirable
  • Spraying Certificates PA1, 2, & 6 would be desirable

Lingfield Park Resort is seeking a driven Greenkeeper to work within the existing team. At Lingfield Park Resort there is a strong culture based on recruiting and developing individuals who embody the ‘Spirit to Serve’.

We are a unique resort based over 450 acres and comprise of one of the UK’s busiest racecourses. The candidate should also possess experience in outdoor labouring and machine operating.

  • To prepare and maintain the greens and fairways

  • To carry out preparation works on the course for play on each day that the course is open

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller who is seeking an exciting challenge and the chance to direct and really add value to a growing commercial business.

The Financial Controller is to work alongside the Executive Director and senior management of ARC, as well as the senior team at the racecourse to ensure the continued growth and secure financial health of the business. You will provide expert financial guidance and hold overall responsibility for the courses financial strategy to deliver the business objectives. This will include effective management of the courses capital budgets, debt and working capital position, IT and accounting systems and compliance with all legislative and audit requirements.

The successful candidate will be a qualified member of an accountancy body or hold an equivalent qualification, as well as possess significant post-graduation experience. Suiting an ambitious, hands on’ and self-motivated individual.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes;
