The All-Weather Championships will launch on 26th October, 2013 at Wolverhampton and climax at Lingfield Park on Friday 18th April 2014. It will comprise of six different categories for 3 Year Olds, Fillies and Mares, Marathon, Sprint, Mile and Middle Distance horses. The races will take place at all of the UK’s All-Weather tracks at Lingfield Park, Wolverhampton and Southwell Racecourses and The Jockey Club’s Kempton Park Racecourse.
The 6 Championship categories will provide a category to test every horse, jockey and trainer. In order to qualify for a Championship Race, a horse has to have run a minimum of three times on the All-Weather tracks in the qualifying period or win 1 of the 3 ‘Win & You’re In’ qualifiers in each category that will be scheduled. The final race of each category will take place on All-Weather Championships Finals Day, offering the richest All-Weather raceday in Europe.
3 YEAR OLD CATEGORY
The All-Weather Colts, Fillies & Geldings Championships comprises every 2 Year Old race run in 2013 and every 3 Year Old race run in 2014 on the All-Weather tracks over the qualifying period. The category culminates with a Final Race on Championships Finals Day, over 7 Furlongs (1400 meters). With prize money of £150,000, it is the UK’s richest 3 Year Old All-Weather race.
For horseracing’s All-Weather speed merchants, the All-Weather Championships Sprint category aims to find the best 4yo+ All-Weather Sprinter in Britain. The Championship Sprint Final will take place over 6 furlongs (1200 meters). With prize money of £150,000, it is the UK’s richest All-Weather Sprint race.
The Mile category aims to find Britain’s best All-Weather Milers with a Championship Final over 8 furlongs (1,600 metres). With prize money of £150,000, it is the UK’s richest All-Weather Mile race.
With races ranging in distance from 13 furlongs (2,600 metres) to 16 furlongs (2 miles or 3,200 metres), the Marathon category aims to find the best All-Weather ‘Stayer’ with a Final race on Championship Finals Day, over 16 furlongs (3,200 meters). With prize money of £150,000, it is the UK’s richest All-Weather Marathon race.
FILLIES & MARES CATEGORY
The Fillies & Mares All-Weather category comprises every race on the All-Weather tracks over the season confined to Fillies & Mares, with a Final Race on Championships Finals Day over 7 furlongs (1,400 meters) and prize money of £150,000, it is the UK’s richest Filly & Mare All-Weather race.
MIDDLE DISTANCE CATEGORY
With races ranging in distance from 10 furlongs (2,000 meters) to 12 furlongs (2,400 metres), the Middle Distance category comprises all Middle Distance races during the qualifying period, with a Final race on All-Weather Championships Finals Day over 10 furlongs (2,200 meters) and with prize money of £200,000, it is the UK’s richest All-Weather Race.
There are 208 fixtures at the four All-Weather tracks at Lingfield Park, Southwell and Wolverhampton Racecourses and The Jockey Club’s Kempton Park Racecourse, all of which count towards qualifying towards the All-Weather Championships. All four tracks will host specific ‘Win and You’re in’ qualifiers.
All-Weather Championships Finals Day will see a Total Prize Fund of £1.0m on offer making it the richest All-Weather card ever staged in Europe. Finals Day will take place on Good Friday 18th April, 2014.
