ARENA RACING COMPANY ENJOYS A BUMPER WEEKEND

Northumberland Plate attracts 730,000 viewers live on Channel 4

This weekend Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) hosted over 60,000 racegoers across five of its racecourses.

Channel 4’s coverage of the John Smith’s Northumberland Plate at Newcastle won by the favourite Richard Fahey-trained and Dr Marwan Koukash-owned Angel Gabriel, attracted a 727,000 peak audience with a 6.8% share. This compares to 592,000 (peak) in 2013 with a reported 24% increase in volume and 6% increase in share growth on a five year average.

Channel 4’s year-on-year average audience also experienced a 40% increase in volume and a 36% increase in share with an equally strong five-year comparison for the double-header weekend.

On the biggest weekend of its year ARC hosted afternoon racing at Newcastle and Royal Windsor racecourses followed by evening meetings at Lingfield Park and Doncaster racecourse which concluded with over 17,000 people enjoying a performance from the Glastonbury Festival-headlining Kaiser Chiefs. On Sunday Uttoxeter racecourse put on their richest summer jumps card and Royal Windsor hosted the second day of its Best of British Weekend which concludes this evening.
