DONCASTER RACECOURSE ENHANCE NATIONAL HUNT PROGRAMME

As part of Arena Racing Company’s (“ARC”) commitment to northern National Hunt racing Doncaster Racecourse is proud to announce the following two additions to its programme.

On Saturday 13th December 2014 Doncaster will host THE DECEMBER NOVICES STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 1) (Grade 2) over 3 miles with a total prize fund of £31,000. The race has been transferred from Lingfield Park. This race will add prestige to a good quality card which also includes the Summit Junior Hurdle (Grade 2).

Also to be added to Doncaster’s exciting National Hunt programme is a brand new Listed mares contest on Monday 29th December. THE DONCASTER MARES STEEPLE CHASE (CLASS 1) (Listed Race) with a total prize fund of £30,000 is for four year olds and upwards. The race will be run over 2 miles 4 ½ furlongs is a welcome new addition to the Town Moor course where a new start has been created for this trip.

Roderick Duncan, Clerk of the Course at Doncaster expressed his delight saying, “I’m delighted we were able to work with the BHA to further enhance the opportunities for mares. The Doncaster Mares Steeplechase is the next step in providing a comprehensive programme and must now be a target for all owners and breeders.”
