Feb 11 2015

Arena Racing Company (“ARC“) has announced that it will be partnering with Leukaemia CARE for a number of charity racedays in 2015.

Leukaemia CARE, a national blood cancer charity, provides emotional support and advice to patients, carers and loved ones facing any form of blood cancer. The charity has been in existence since 1969 and helps support thousands of people with the disease through its support services which includes a freephone 24-hour CARE Line, nationwide support groups, buddy support, cancer campaigning and advocacy, and information booklets.

Leukaemia CARE hosts a number of charity events throughout the year to help raise funds for its vital work. In 2015 this will include three racedays at ARC racecourses, with the potential of hosting more in future years. The racedays in 2015 are:

• Worcester Racecourse, Family Day on Sunday 21st June;
• Bath Racecourse, Ladies Day on Saturday 22nd August;
• Wolverhampton Racecourse on Friday 9th October.

Across each of the racedays, Leukaemia CARE will be the sponsor of a number of races and there will be range of hospitality and entertainment to help raise funds for the charity.

Details of the charity racedays will be put on Leukaemia CARE’s website in due course: www.leukaemiacare.org.uk/events/event-category/corporate

Kevin Hateley, Fundraising Manager at Leukaemia CARE, said “We are really pleased to be working with ARC in 2015 and hope our racedays at Worcester, Bath and Wolverhampton racecourses will raise much needed awareness and funds so that we can keep supporting people suffering from any form of blood cancer. We hope the racedays will prove a great success and more can be held in years to come given they are a great way to engage people, raise money and have some fun.”

Susannah Gill, Director of External Affairs at Arena Racing Company, said: “Everyone at ARC is delighted to be working with the Leukaemia CARE. We hope our racecourses will provide a perfect setting to ensure the charity’s guests can have a wonderful day while also supporting such a worthy cause.”

The money raised from these racedays will go towards funding the charity’s early diagnosis tool for GPs to help ensure patients are diagnosed swiftly at primary care level.
