ARC LAUNCHES PIONEERING TRIAL TO OFFER EXTRA BADGES TO SYNDICATE MEMBERS AT LINGFIELD PARK AND ROYAL WINDSOR RACECOURSES

May 31 2016

Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) is pleased to be launching a pioneering trial to offer syndicate members extra badges for fixtures at Lingfield Park and Royal Windsor Racecourse for a three month period starting on Wednesday 1 June.

Syndicates of all sizes currently receive 8 badges for the Owners’ and Trainers’ facility per runner. Under this trial Syndicate Managers will be able to request up to 20 additional complimentary admission badges per runner (premier badges at Lingfield Park and Club badges at Royal Windsor Racecourse). This will allow other syndicate members free access to both racecourses. The extra admission badges will not grant access to the Owners’ and Trainers’ facility so as to continue to ensure this is a premium experience for the connections of all runners.

The trial is seeking to encourage more syndicate members to enjoy the fun and excitement of watching their horse race. The trial will allow the ROA and ARC to understand if there is an appetite for syndicates to have the option of potentially accessing more badges for their members. The findings of this trial will help inform all stakeholders working on the Ownership Pillar which is coordinated by the British Horseracing Authority (“BHA”).

Chief Executive of ARC, Martin Cruddace, said: “Owners are the lifeblood of British Racing. The whole team at ARC are keen to do as much as we can to ensure their experience at our racecourses is as positive and enjoyable as possible. It is widely understood that encouraging syndicate ownership is an important way to grow overall ownership within the sport. We hope this will be a useful trial in assessing the appetite of syndicate members to come racing to see their horses run, and ultimately help determine if more access to racecourses could encourage syndicate membership.”

Chief Executive of the ROA, Charlie Liverton said: “We believe this is a positive initiative and welcome ARC’s commitment to supporting syndicates and encouraging their members to come racing. We very much hope Syndicate Managers will work with ARC and the ROA team to help communicate the offer to their members. It will be interesting to see if there is an appetite from syndicates to have more badges to enable members to watch their horses. We will share the findings of this trial with the BHA as part of the industry’s collaborative work under the Ownership Pillar.”

Dan Abraham, Chairman of Racing Syndicates and Clubs Association said: “This is a great initiative from ARC and the ROA and we will certainly be communicating it to our members. There are many occasions when only a limited number of a syndicate can be provided with Owners’ and Trainers’ badges to watch their horse race. This potentially leaves those not allocated badges disappointed and they either choose not to attend or have to pay for the privilege. I look forward to seeing if syndicates make use of this new offer.”

In order to request up to 20 extra admission badges Syndicate Managers should contact Lingfield Park or Royal Windsor at least 24 hours before the raceday and provide a full list of names.
