On Friday 2 September Newcastle Racecourse will host the 13th Northumbrian WaterAid Raceday where the racecourse will celebrate helping to raise over £1 million for charities since 2004.
Over the last 12 years Newcastle Racecourse has supported many charities across a variety of sectors in order to help raise valuable funds and awareness. Every year Newcastle Racecourse works in partnership with local and national businesses to host charity themed racedays, as well as dozens of non-racing events, such as the Newcastle Stampede and Endurun24, which has seen fundraising top the million pound mark.
Charities who have benefited from partnering with Newcastle Racecourse include the NSPCC, The Prince’s Trust, the British Legion, Riding for the Disabled Association and the Injured Jockeys Fund. A full list of beneficiaries and the amounts raised for each is provided in the Notes to Editors section of this press release.
On Friday those racegoers attending the Northumbrian WaterAid Raceday can look forward to an official presentation to celebrate Newcastle Racecourse’s support for charities since 2004.
Newcastle Racecourse Executive Director David Williamson said: “We see ourselves as an important part of the community and we are so pleased to be able to give something back by supporting a wide range of charities. The team here work really hard to make sure all our events are exciting and different and it is an added bonus we can also help raise funds and awareness for good causes. Our Northumbrian WaterAid Raceday promises to be another great day at Gosforth Park and we look forward to welcoming the charity, their guests and all racegoers.”
Northumbrian Water Group Chief Executive Heidi Mottram, said: “It is fantastic that Newcastle Racecourse has helped to raise this amount of money for such a diverse range of charities. It is wonderful that they played a significant part in improving the lives of people, from children to the elderly, who desperately need help and support. Our international charity partner, WaterAid, not only provides people with basic human rights, it also gives people dignity, hope and a future. It is very satisfying to know that Northumbrian Water were the first company to hold a charity event at the racecourse in 2003. What a fabulous legacy to help create. We wish the racecourse luck in helping the raise the next £1 million!”
