Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) and Chepstow Racecourse today announce the appointment of Dai Jones as Clerk of the Course. Libby O’Flaherty who has been in position at Chepstow since 2018 will take up the role of Clerk of the Course at Worcester Racecourse, alongside a regional role within ARC.
Currently Clerk of the Course at Ffos Las Racecourse, Dai Jones will take up the role at Chepstow following the Coral Welsh Grand National meeting on 27 December 2023.
ARC Regional Director, Phil Bell, said, “I am delighted with Dai’s appointment as Clerk of the Course at Chepstow. He has spent a lifetime in Welsh horseracing, initially as a successful point to point rider and more recently as Clerk of the Course at Ffos Las.”
“He’s formed some excellent relationships with owners, trainers, jockeys and stable staff in both the Welsh racing community and further afield. He’ll be a great addition to the team at Chepstow.”
“I’d like to thank Libby for all of the great work that she has done during her time at Chepstow and wish her luck in her move which will be the base for her new group role with ARC, as well as at Worcester Racecourse.”
Dai Jones said, “Welsh racing has been a huge part of my life, so to take over stewardship of Chepstow Racecourse and the Coral Welsh Grand National is a huge honour. I have very much enjoyed my years at Ffos Las, and will still be available to offer any support that the team there may require.”
Chepstow Racecourse will host a total of 29 horseracing fixtures in 2023, with the two day Unibet Jumps Season Opener in October and Coral Welsh Grand National in December highlights of the British jump racing calendar.
